Okay, onto today's AWESOME wedding. Michal and Michael had a geeky, rustic, unique and outrageously fun summer camp wedding in Texas. Your eyes do not deceive you, I really did just type ‘summer camp wedding'. Hip hip hooray!
Shanna of Nostalgia Film shares a little more about the day:
The day included summer camp activities the morning of the wedding (it was at the bride's childhood camp in the Texas Hill Country), a stop-motion relay game, the groom entering the ceremony by canoe (to the “Star Wars” soundtrack!), a jelly bean trail down the aisle, a stick pony entrance to the reception, the groom slack-lining, a light saber getaway, and so much more! Plus they are just adorable, sweet, and made for each other!
Let's start off with their eco-chic, plantable invitations with a cute as can be schedule on the back and the perfectly woodsy wedding rings that the couple designed themselves, incorporating the diamond from Michael's mum's wedding ring.

The rest of the photos are by Whitney Martin Photography with assistance from Ming Gong. I wanted to include photos of all the fun and frolics from the weekend because, after all, who says weddings have to be a one day only kind of celebration?!
From the beautiful bride, Michal:
Michael and I wanted to have as much time as possible with our guests since we know how hard and rare it is to get all the people that we love in the same place so we decided on a unique venue – the summer camp that I went to as a child. It is in the Texas Hill Country about an hour from Austin and San Antonio.
After an initial drive we also wanted our ceremony and reception to be in the same place. Guests came on Friday night and we had a rehearsal dinner catered by the Salt Lick BBQ and we had a huge bonfire later that night. Many of the guests chose to stay on the camp property so they stayed in bunk beds in screened in cabins just like the campers do!
Welcome To Summer Camp!
On Saturday day, we set up camp activities so guests went on the ropes course, swam in the river, went canoeing, did archery, and we set up a huge obstacle course relay race for the guests! Everyone said that they had such a great time playing like kids again.
The Wedding Day
Purple is my favorite color and my awesome groom Michael, said that he wanted to wear purple since he knows how much I love it. So he wore a purple shirt underneath his suit. We also asked the groomsmen and the groomsmaid to wear purple bowties and suspenders. They looked quite daper.
Michal wore an Augusta Jones lace wedding dress and vintage cowboy boots that were her Dad's (Tony Llama black with blue accent), as well as a 1920's art deco necklace borrowed from her mum. She asked her bridesmaids to choose a purple dress of their liking and pair it with boots!
The First Look
Our first look was down on this lovely old railroad bridge. Michael had had to wait for me cause hair and make-up was running behind so I was totally stressing out and when I finally saw him, I just burst in to tears and got mad at him for making me want to wear a big wedding dress. :) I had never seen him look so handsome and sweet.
Told you it was awesome.
Come back tomorrow for Part 2 featuring one of the most unique ceremony entrances and exits I've ever seen! And their incredible wedding film!
Did you enjoy this visual trip back to summer camp? Not that we really do the whole summer camp thing as much in the UK, but I did go to a summer sports day camp when I was 13…does that count?
Are any of you having a weekend long celebration for your wedding too? I love the idea of spending as much time as possible, making new memories with friends and family!
