Good morning!

How was your weekend?

It's been positively scorchio here in London and, in typical British fashion, everyone's been complaining about it. (It's either too wet, too cold or too hot!) But I have nothing to complain about (except for a hangover) as it was my cousin's 1950s themed hen do on Saturday and we all had a blast! Post to follow shortly.

Onto today's charming DIY wedding in France. Marilyn and Patrick (based in Amsterdam) had an intimate, laid back affair filled with all sorts of fun details. Hearts, bubbles, ducks and daisies to name a few. There was also a ‘colourful' dress code for all guests!

Marilyn made such a naturally beautiful bride in her exquisite, low backed Claire Pettibone dress while the young bridesmaids were positively cherubic all in white with delicate flower crowns (reminiscent of Kate Moss' wedding).

I especially love the fact that Patrick picked Marilyn's wild bouquet of daisies from a field on the morning of their wedding. How romantic is that?

Here's Marilyn with all the details from their colourful celebration:

Décor & Details We asked everyone to come in colour, and the wedding theme was also very colourful. Realy simple and not posh. We rented the place for a week and the guests were there for the whole weekend. At the wedding day everyone participated in making the place look as lovely as it did. That was the magical thing about this wedding, everybody had the feeling that they were part of it and not just a viewer of it.

The Dress First I bought a really nice simple dress in a normal shop from BCBG Max Azria. A month before the wedding I wanted to get a veil to go with it to make it more special. I went to the best Bridal shop in Amsterdam and saw THE dress, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. I was debating weather or not to try it on. I just did it, looked down and become very quiet and almost had to cry. This was the dress, perfect for the place were we got married and perfect for me.

Because my husband is called Duk as a last name, everybody brought little bath ducks and they put them around the pool!

The Wedding Music I sang our song, which was totally unexpected. Then after we did our first dance to Enrique Iglesias ‘I Can Be Your Hero. (Very corny, but we thought that was funny.) During the last moments of our song our friends surprised us with fireworks and that was amazing.

Entertainment We started the weekend with a game on friday, a heart game, everybody gets a paper heart with a name on it and has to secretly kiss that person on the skin, so on the arm is also fine. But, no one can see it. So a lot of fun moments came out of that! We also asked everybody to bring a heart, so that they could hang it up in the tree of love ~ the tree we got married under. We had the best DJ ever, he entertained us with classics and had us all singing and dancing together.

Photography & Videography I love the vintage look that Landa makes in her pictures, I thought it could really match with the style I was aming for on the wedding day. Nicolaas is amazing at what he does, I have seen a lot of his work and love it because with his style of editing, I just new that he was going to make something beautiful and really capture the day how it was. (You can see their work on the site Marilyn created I Am Yours Now.)

Favourite Moments The ceremony itself ~ so colourful and you could feel the love from everyone. Also when we left the party. We left running towards the house, going into the honeymoon suite. After two minutes it began to rain big time! We opened the doors and heard everyone dancing in the rain and really enjoying themselves. We opened a bottle of champagne and stood there dancing to the music and enjoying our moment while we could hear everyone having the best time. We heard the music go on until 6am in the morning and now it turns out that I’m pregnant from that night.

Advice For Other Couples Do exactly what you want. Don’t let other people get into your head. Have a little chat with yourself before you step into the moment that you see everyone. Say to yourself ‘it’s is going to be a FUN day' and try to really be aware and enjoy every moment.

Congratulations to Marilyn and Patrick on their beautiful wedding (and beautiful news!) tomorrow I'll be sharing their stunning wedding film filled with hearts, colour and love.

Ok so we have to talk about Marilyn's gorgeous gown and the ‘Tree Of Love' ~ what a fun idea! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
