Happy Monday!
Anna and Matthew's gorgeous wedding is perfect to kick start the week.
The thrifted, vintage vibe, creative DIY decor and modern, aqua and orange colour palette had me at ‘hello'. But I was well and truly sold when the bride described her style as ‘granny chic'.
(Which is officially my all new favourite combination of words.)
The whole bridal party takes modern, vintage style to the next level. They looked AMAZING.
Anna was a vision in her Ivy and Aster gown ~ all cascading lace ruffles, wavy red tresses, smokey eyeliner and aqua tipped French manicure. Her bridesmaids wore mismatched, vintage, aqua dresses with delicate, crocheted gloves teamed with nude shoes.
While Matthew added a bit of ‘grandad style' in his brown, plaid suit with an unexpected aqua stripe running through it, and the ring bearers (who carried vintage books in lieu of ring pillows) were suitably adorable in orange check braces and bow ties.
From Anna, the bride:
Our style was based on our love of collected things (you should see our house). I describe my personal style as “granny chic,” so it was pretty easy to translate that into our wedding theme. I was raised by my grandmother, so I have an inherent love of doilies and milk glass. As for our color pallette, Matt had a heavy hand in picking aqua and orange. I showed him some inspiration photos, and he picked those two colors because he liked the fresh and summery look!
My favorite poet in the whole wide word (seriously, it’s an obsession, I have a tattoo to prove it) is Walt Whitman. We had a section of the Preface to Leaves of Grass read by my Aunt. It was beautiful, and now when I read it, it reminds me of our wedding day.
We had a “tree ceremony,” where we watered a little tree that is now planted in our new back yard! We based the ceremony around Song of Solomon 2:10-13, which are love verses that mention a tree putting forth roots. The ceremony really came together at that point.
Totally and utterly gorgeous. I'm obsessed with their unique, aqua and orange colour palette.
See you tomorrow for Part 2 ~ if you love all things thrifted, vintage and DIY you are not going to want to miss it!
