Living Coral Thailand Bohemian Beach Wedding

Boho Coral Thailand Beach Wedding – Alen Karupovic 4

It’s about time we shared a wedding featuring Pantone’s color of the year, Living Coral! And what better place to show of the lively shade than diver’s paradise Phuket, Thailand.

Hailing from England & Ireland and living abroad, it seemed natural for Wangui and Craig to plan a destination wedding – and what fun would it be to choose venues?! The couple took a dreamy holiday to Phuket on the hunt for the perfect place to say ‘I do’ and found the perfect space at The Renaissance.

With a wedding venue chosen & wedding planner booked, Wangui went to work crafting the perfect color scheme. Shades of coral, peach, and rosé make appearances throughout the wedding-day fashion, flowers & decor. Pink rosé fittingly awaited arriving guests & Wangui’s bridesmaids looked like beachy goddesses in Living Coral. Dainty & bohemian was her floral crown, with orange colored roses and sweet baby’s breath.

Photographed by Alen Karupovic, this Thai beach wedding is a boho bride’s dream.

Our Love Story

We actually met at Gaelic Football in Shenzhen, Gui came to her first training session and Craig was the coach. She played her cards well pretending not to know how to play and looked for some extra attention and help. It developed from there as we hit it off.

Craig proposed in our apartment. He had photos of us from the past few years hung around the apartment with lights and candles. Our dog Maurice was also involved he had a bandana made to help Craig propose. It was very intimate.

The Dress & Attire

Gui’s dress was ordered from California and it really suits who she is and again set the tone for what we wanted. Craig’s suits were designed locally and the colour chosen to fit our theme.

The Destination & Venue

As we live abroad a wedding at home in England or Ireland seemed like a lot of work. We went to Phuket to check out some venues and immediately fell in love with the Renaissance. The lawn and the hotel were exactly what we had envisioned for our wedding.

We came across The Wedding Bliss online and once we spoke to the team we felt they really understood what we were looking for, they had great suggestions and knew exactly what vendors to go to to help us achieve that. Our months before the wedding were filled with online research and we had seen a lot of the finer details we liked but wanted to tweak for ourselves. Gui did a fantastic job with the colour scheme and the whole thing fit together from there.

The Ceremony

We worked with Gui’s local priest who flew out for the wedding to perform the ceremony. We added some touches of our own like readings and music and it was just perfect. We had it on the back lawn in the Renaissance and the location was perfect it was very intimate.

The Photography

We had seen a lot of Alen’s work online and he really suited the vibe we were looking to capture throughout the day. He came highly recommend and we can see why; he made it all very easy and wasn’t intrusive.

The Reception

We had a DJ from Hong Kong do the whole day and he was great, the ceremony music we chose ourselves and he set the tone for the rest of the day – a beach funk type of vibe.

The food was fantastic, we had a tasting a few months before and chose all Thai cuisine which went down really well with our guests. The Renaissance did a wonderful job with the food. We also had a “Take your seat, take your shot” notice which we saw online and this definitely set the mood for the party afterward.

Advice to Other Couples

We had a plan we received from our planners Wedding Bliss of important milestones in the lead-up and planning. It had dates like suits, rings etc and when we should be making decisions. It really broke up the planning for us and made it all a lot more manageable.

On the day, we would say take time as a couple to stand back and enjoy it, the day went so fast and was so busy. We had been told this by friends and made sure we took time together to appreciate the day we had planned and the actual wedding

The Honeymoon

We are actually currently on our honeymoon in Bali. We had the wedding in the Renaissance Resort in Phuket and chose their location in Uluwatu, Bali for our honeymoon. The resort is fantastic and very chilled which was perfect for our honeymoon. The resort is in Uluwatu which is a little removed but which is also great for relaxing.
