A Unique & Colourful, Carnival Themed Wedding In Brighton

Today's colourful, carnival themed wedding in Brighton is nothing short of EPIC.

I know this for a fact because I was there.

A few weeks ago my gorgeous cousin Amie and the love of her life, Joe, got married in a flurry of love, laughter, music and colour.

Last year I featured their engagement shoot and waxed lyrical about what a charming couple they are, so I won't make them blush by doing that again here but suffice to say they are two of my favourite people in the whole wide world.

And their wedding was always destined to be a celebration of unique and epic proportions!

I had the honour of being Amie's bridesmaid alongside my other lovely cousins, Emma and Katie. We all got to wear LBDs of our choice and carried multi-coloured felt flower bouquets adorned with tiny, plastic cupcakes, love hearts and smiley faces.

Amie's felt bouquet had a lucky spinner attached to it and she wore a headpiece consisting of felt flowers and a vintage domino! The flower girls wore colourful, flowery dresses and held cute, stripy pin wheels in lieu of traditional baskets of petals.

Joe and his groomsmen were dapper in traditional morning suits complete with tailcoats and pinstripes plus the very unconventional addition of felt flower boutonnieres.

While Amie wore a stunning, one shouldered gown with a sweetheart bodice and the fullest skirt I've ever seen. She swished about in it like a princess and every now and then you'd catch a glimpse of her glass slippers ~ a pair of silver, paisley print Irregular Choice shoes with clear heels!

From the bride, Amie:

Our wedding was a crazy, carinval themed party for all our friends and family. We wanted lots of fun and laughter, which was exactly what we got (however most of it was the grooms expense…)

We both had very strong ideas of what we wanted, and none of them were traditional! My flowers and the buttonholes were made from felt and wool flowers and had lots of personal details (such as little rave faces, as Joe and I used to be right little ravers when we were students), we also had a topsy turvy, carnival themed cake that matched the flowers and a peep board made especially for the day.

We choose our wedding date because it is my Grandparent's anniversary and Joe's Mum and Dad's anniversary. It is also my great aunt and uncle's wedding anniversairy, so hopefully it will bring us as much luck as it has bought them all.

The Ceremony

No special readings. Just lots of mistakes and giggling. We wanted to formal bit out of the way fairly quickly so we could get on with the party!

I walked down the Aisle to Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison and we walked out to Don't Get Married Gril by the Dubliners. Hilarious we know, but also a little nod to a few family members who couldn't be there who were Dubliners fans. Our friend, Joe's Usher Mark, wrote a piece of music on the Classical guitar and recorded it for our signing music, which was beautiful.
