A few months back, when the sun was shining and we were all wearing sandals (remember those days?) I had the pleasure of featuring Irish wedding blogger Lisa from Bride and Joy and her fiance, Rohan's travel themed engagement shoot.
Well today I'm thrilled to share their oh so chic winter wedding in Ireland with you all!
Lisa made such a gorgeous bride in her retro chic ensemble of fifties prom style, tulle skirted Kathy de Stafford dress, sparkly heels and glam fur stole. I love that her bridesmaids all sported faux fur stoles and chic up do's too.
As well as being one seriously stylish affair, there was also a hefty dose of what Lisa calls ‘the quirk factor' (Muppets socks anyone?) and a whole host of DIY projects, including personalized candy favours, hilarious reception table games and photobooth fun and frolics.
Each joyful, beautiful moment was captured to perfection by We Are The Mastersons Photography.
Our theme inspiration came from Mid Century Modern style, the clean lines and retro feel, it influenced our choice of colour palette (grey, gold, coral and light teal), the fonts we used on our stationery, and the bridesmaid and groomsmens’ attire.
The Ceremony
Our ceremony was said by my grand uncle Fr. Macartan, with some help from vicar and friend of Rohan’s family, Rev. Bogle, and local Parish Priest Fr. Jim. We come from different religious backgrounds, and we wanted our ceremony to feel inclusive for everyone.
The Reception
The reception took place at the lovely Darver Castle in Co. Louth. We named all the tables after songs from the band – Sax and the City’s – set list, and we wrote a little message on the table numbers:
When the band strikes up this groove,
all at this table must bust a move
This was such a hit! I’m not sure what people thought would happen if they didn’t get up for their song, but they definitely weren’t going to find out.
The Photography
I can only describe The Mastersons like photographic ninjas… If there’s a reaction or expression – however brief – they’ll capture it. And you won’t even know they’re there.
It's all just so incredibly lovely!

Many thanks to Lisa and Rohan for sharing their day with us and to We Are The Mastersons Photography for sharing these gorgeous photos.
