Studio 54 Disco-Themed Wedding Inspiration

Chic City Wedding Studio 54

Let’s be real, there will be disco playing at your wedding right? Is it really a wedding if there’s no disco?! (Okay yes, it is, but hard to imagine). So why don’t we all embrace the boogie fever & inject a little disco inspiration into our wedding scene?

Boho Chic Weddings sent us this super-fun, Studio 54 inspired wedding editorial & we are ready to dance. Set in a loft space, the team styled a gilded tropical wedding scene – bold & funky monstera leaves, golden details & yes, a disco ball. Our beautiful bride wears a 1970s-esque bridal cape (a modern style that is so gloriously nostalgic!) and beautiful gold accessories.

We also can’t help – as per usual – swoon over the cakes & desserts. A little campy & oh-so-perfect for this extravagant scene is the French wedding croquembouche. A tower of choux a la creme (cream puffs!) sit aside a beautiful towering classic wedding cake.

From Boho Chic Weddings

With the trend for bridal jumpsuits going from strength to strength for the modern, style-conscious bride, photographer Catherine Kerr and I were keen to co-ordinate a city centre photoshoot, that placed the jumpsuit and the kind of sassy bride that chooses to wear one, centre stage.

Both being 70’s babes ourselves, we wanted to celebrate that fun 70’s New York disco vibe that we adored in our early teens, creating inspirational images that show how that style can be worked with all of the sleek and none of the kitsch – think Bianca Jagger rather than Farrah Fawcett!

With that in mind we embraced the inclusion of elements such a mirror balls, and Monstera leaves, but by working with wedding planner and shoot stylist Emily K Weddings to keep the rest of the styling parred back and focused on the simplicity of a palette of white, green and gold, we’re proud to have steered our final look firmly towards 70’s sleek chic.

Our stand out favourite elements from the shoot were the smoked glass cocktail glasses, the oh-so-70’s profiterole tower, the inspired inclusion of artichokes in the bouquet and our smoking hot bride and groom.
