Set in the beautiful hills of South Monrovia & photographed by Carol’s Darkroom, this countryside wedding celebrated everything about the local area. The food, the flowers & even the dress were sourced from the surrounding villages! The gorgeous & whimsical gown even included a special Monrovian lace, making the embroidery even more sentimental for our local bride.

Buying in-season flowers, planning a local menu & buying fashion & decor from your neighbors not only creates a charming scene but helps save the Earth! These actions eliminate would-be emissions from shipping exotic foods & flowers, which can be so easily avoided by showing off all the amazing flora & food in your hometown!

Our Love Story

Tinder love :-) We were both lucky to be the first person to meet each other via this app. Once we met we knew this story would not end. We remember every detail of the meeting and talk about it time to time and we laugh since that day together.

Our proposal was our second year of being together. We did mountain ride on the Alpen Strasse in Austria heading to the Grossglockner. I was already pregnant with our son (3 months) and I had no idea about his plans. As we prepared for our child we knew we wanted to be together but we did not talk about a wedding. For me, it was not that important and of course, it is the man who ‘must ask’, right?

But my husband is a romantic soul and he planned and saved for the ring for almost one year (!) We went to take a picture and while smiling for the camera (it was actually filming!) I felt his heart beating soo hard! So I asked him what was going on. He turned to me with tears in his eyes and voice shaking and went on his knee. Of course, I said “Yes!”

A few weeks after the proposal I got another surprise – our Austrian trip and proposal in a short film. I love this person so much!

The Planning

As we both try to live respectfully with nature (not quite perfect yet) I was trying to prepare as much as I could in an organic way. For example, the flowers I chose for our day grew locally in the same season as the wedding was held. Almost all food was local and my wedding dress was also made from local material by a local seamstress.

The Dress & Attire

My wedding dress was made by Sobje, local dressmakers. We also used embroidered lace typical for Moravian area where the wedding was held and I was born and grew up. My hangers were made of this lace. When thinking of the dress we considered that the wedding will be held on the field and in the tent just next to the woods. I wanted the dress to be a perfect match for the environment. My groom had a suit but he decided to voluntarily forgo a tie or any other decoration.

Favorite Moments

Our first dance. As I love to dance and my husband, not so much, I was happy I made him dance with me! Also because the ceremony was over so we could chill out and enjoy the celebration with others!

The Wedding Day

We wanted everybody to just have a nice day with good food in a beautiful environment. Simple, no planned entertainment we would push our guests to do. We also did not want that much attention to us. We called for a beautiful sunny day with everybody we love. Smiling, eating, dancing and drinking and touching the grass by their feet. We were lucky the weather was better than in our dreams! People were so enthusiastic about our wedding and lot of them still reminds us that it was the best wedding they ever went to (so satisfying for both of us!).
