For their Amalfi elopement our New Zealand couple kept it simple: a peaceful morning & their Masa Luxury Villa, sacred cliffside ‘I dos’ & a sunset boat trip around Positano’s bay. What more could you need, truly?

Matching the simple beauty of the day, Tatiana wore a clean & modern, minimalistic gown & Michael a handsome custom made grey suit.

Our Love Story

My husband and I met when we were just sixteen years old at a campsite over the summer holidays & that was it! We’d found ‘the one’ in each other and we have been in love ever since. We’ve grown up together and now we get to grow old together, forever! Michael proposed to me in the middle of the skies during a flight from London to Hong Kong in business class.

The Destination

My husband Michael and I are high school sweethearts from New Zealand and had planned this exact elopement since we were only teenagers. We wanted something deeply intimate and precious, just the two of us & God because that’s what we ultimately believe marriage is truly about. Italy has always been a dream destination for us both with its rich symbolism in romance and beauty. We wanted to captivate our day with such a backdrop, so when we arrived at the Amalfi Coast we immediately knew we had chosen the right place to start our forever.

The Wedding Day

We were only in Praiano for two short but sweet days, so when we arrived it was evening and our ceremony was the next day. We woke up in our luxurious villa to the most incredible sunrise and since it was only us two, we felt no pressure to rush or hurry. Michael had a big sleep in while I spent my morning by the pool in the stunning gardens which overlooked the ocean.

Around midday we slowly got ourselves ready at separate ends of the villa and I chose to do my own makeup simply because I wanted to look & feel ‘like me’. Everything was so calm, lovely and joyful which is who we try to be as people.

Soon enough it was our ceremony time. We were nervous but also ready, we had waited for this very moment for many years. Our wonderful celebrant led us with a prayer, a scripture reading from the Bible and then we exchanged our personally written vows which was the most sacred part of our wedding. After sealing our eternity with a kiss, we popped champagne then headed to a nearby wharf where we would sail around the coast on a private boat.

The Evening

We took plenty of photos including at Positano’s most famous beach. By sundown we were ready to settle into the night, so we sailed to our villa where we were greeted by a candlelit 3-course meal dinner on our balcony. We ate, we drank, we laughed and we loved the rest of the night away!

We wanted to use local artists who were passionate about capturing love in all its glory and would bring their Italian flair to make our day fun yet special. We loved our photography & videography team as they made us feel so comfortable and romantic! We will cherish the memories they captivated forever. Thank you ladies!

Favorite Aspects

The fact that it literally was just us! We had no other guests which made it feel so pure, sacred and intimate – we had the time to take in every ounce of emotion we were feeling in the present and we didn’t miss a single moment together! It literally felt there was nobody else in the universe except the two happiest people alive. We were very glad to have the blessing of our families who live on the other side of the world in New Zealand, which is so far away and we have already planned to celebrate together with all of our loved ones in a late wedding reception.

Advice to Other Couples

Remember, a wedding is only one day but marriage is forever! So make sure you invest way more into the days to follow, and simply celebrate the joy of covenant in a way that is truly authentic to who you are as a couple!
