b) You're probably well aware that I've fallen head over heels for this bright and beautiful vintage wedding!
So much heart and creativity went into Anna and Matthew's wedding. I especially love that they enjoyed planning their wedding together, as a couple. From the utterly gorgeous colour scheme chosen by Matt to all the joint thrifting that went down before their nuptials. And their oh so ‘them', cake toppers.
Watch out for a whole host of granny chic details from vintage books, chalkboard signs and tea cup candles to doily covered everything.
From the bride:
I was raised by my grandmother, so I have an inherent love of doilies and milk glass. With that in mind, Matt and I shopped around and collected SO much stuff. It was a really fun bonding experience to troll through flea markets and thrift stores together. Each book, doily, vase, etc. is a memory that Matt and I share together everytime we look at them.
Anna's short and chic, embellished lace shift dress is perfect for dancing the night away in, don't you think?
Cakes galore!
To cut on costs, we decided to go with many 10” round cakes instead of one large cake. Each cake was a different flavor that the guests were able to pick from. Everyone is still talking about our cakes!
As for our cake topper, we wanted something really personal, not personalized. Matt has forever been obsessed with space, astronauts, NASA, you name it. When thinking of something that would adequately embody Matt as a cake topper, the choice was pretty easy! An astronaut! As for me, I’m just flat out in love with pandas. For Harry Potter fans out there, a panda would definitely be my Patronus. So, I bought little figurines.
Anna's advice for other vintage / DIY brides:
I recommend keeping yourself highly organized! It’s so easy to get lost in all of the stuff. We wanted to make sure that every little thing was accounted for, so we created inventory sheets. Every box got a sheet taped to it that detailed the contents. Each box was numbered and referred back to our master inventory sheet. I know it sounds like overkill, but it saved our butts when it came time to put everything together!
Great advice. Also, I'm liking the black and white photo booth shots. They make drunk people messing about with sunglasses look rather chic.
