Another week, another achingly cool California engagement shoot.
Cindy and Charlton are one stylish pair. So it’s fitting that they chose the insanely hip Ace Hotel in Palm Springs (they’ve just opened a too-cool East London wing on our side of the Atlantic), as the backdrop of their desert engagement shoot.
And who better than Brooklyn-based photography, Chaz Cruz to capture the day?
A gorgeous pair, with a laid back California style and an eye for unique locations, before we let you peruse these awesome pics, we’ll let Cindy fill us in on her and Charlton’s atmospheric choice of setting…
When Charlton and I decided to do an engagement shoot, I’m not even sure there was a real discussion regarding where we would take our photos.
We immediately knew that the Ace Hotel and Swim Club had the character, style, and personal sentiment that made up all the right elements for a perfect setting.
The hotel was also a strong contender for our October 2014 wedding venue, and since we did not end up booking the space, taking our engagement photos there was an ideal compromise!
As huge music-lovers, Charlton and I frequent the Coachella Valley Music festival in Indio, so the Ace Hotel and its neighboring desert-scapes are more than just amazing backdrops: they are a sentimental place we go at least once a year, where we can put our lives on hold, be completely care-free, surround ourselves with great company and music, soak in the heat, and enjoy the sunsets that you can only find in Palm Springs.
It will always be a special place for us, and we’re so thrilled to have Chaz Cruz capture that joy that the desert and Ace Hotel and Swim Club bring us.
We think they depict our fun, laid-back, up-for-anything-style perfectly!
What a stunning place – I love that they chose somewhere with real meaning for their engagement shoot, and such a good idea to incorporate a place they were so torn over for their wedding.
Thanks so much to Cindy and Charlton, as well as Chaz Cruz Photography for sharing this atmospheric engagement shoot with us.
