The bridesmaids have a number of maidly duties they are expected to fulfill and they often require money.
For example, it's a given that bridesmaids have to be at the bachelorette/hen party BUT nowadays hen parties are becoming more and more extravagant. Spa weekend/weekend in Ibiza/Vegas anyone?!
The Wedding Channel from The Knot carried out research into the costs involved in being a bridesmaid and came up with some shocking results:
The average cost of being a bridesmaid is $1,695…yikes!

Are engagement, bachelorette/hen party AND wedding gifts a step too far?!
Should bridesmaids pay for their own dresses? Especially if it's a colour/style they wouldn't chose for themselves and that they'll never wear again!
Is it fair to ask your maids to put hundreds of pounds towards attending your bachelorette/hen do, on top of the expense of attending your wedding?
Also…I wonder, would the cost be similar for the groomsmen?
