Who says beach weddings must be boho? While we do love a free-spirited look (after all, our own Baja beach fiesta could fall in the realm of bohemian weddings) it’s so refreshing to see an elegant & sleek take on oceanside nuptials.

Florence & Einstein did just that – embracing a modern, minimalistic theme the couple and their expert wedding planners created a sophisticated scene for their Thai beach wedding. From Florence’s edgy silk wedding dress to the bold & modern stationery, the whole scene was filled with clean lines & elegance.

A perfect addition to the neutral decor was their choice of alternative florals: cotton. Having legally tied the knot in a civil ceremony in San Francisco two years prior, the poufs of white were an ode to their second ‘Cotton Anniversary’. Paired with fluffy pampas grass, the neutral ‘florals’ softens the edgy, architectural scene.

What great inspiration this is for all of our Covid-19-era couples who may be tying the knot intimately now, with a bigger celebration in the years to come!

The Destination

We have always loved the people of Thailand, their food and culture. We wanted to celebrate our nuptials and take the opportunity to share our love for Thailand with our family and friends from around the globe.

After much contemplation, we narrowed down Phuket as the perfect wedding destination spot for its picturesque beaches. We reside thousands of miles away from Thailand and we sought to partner with the best local wedding planner that we can fully entrust. Enter The Wedding Bliss team, just a few minutes after meeting them in person, we knew without a doubt right away that they had the experience and knowledge to orchestrate a wedding of our dreams.

With numerous beautiful wedding venues to choose from, we narrowed our selection down to Jia at Jivana Villas. The villa’s expansive beachfront lawn was perfect for our wedding ceremony and captures the perfect sunset and view for reception dinner thereafter. An unexpected bonus is the infinity pool as our wedding afterparty rapidly transformed into a Vegas-like pool party to conclude our special night.

The Florals & Decor

‘Minimalist-Modern’ was our chosen wedding theme. We paired the theme with mismatched chairs and we preferred an unconventional floral arrangement.

In lieu of flowers, we chose cotton as our wedding celebration in Phuket coincided with our 2nd civil wedding anniversary that took place in San Francisco, California. For those not in the know, the 2nd year anniversary is also known as the cotton anniversary. The Wedding Bliss team suggested complimenting our cotton-theme with pampas grass, which resulted in an exceptionally stunning arrangement!

To complete the simplistic and chic decoration theme, Florence chose an edgy, structured, off-white gown by Toni Maticevski, paired with a playful twist of a cascade bouquet.

The Ceremony Decor

After a few exchanges of ideas and inspirations, The Wedding Bliss team designed for us an asymmetrical house-shaped arch made with a golden mirror. It was everything that we have envisioned being put together, as it was unique and made the perfect backdrop for our wedding.

Favorite Moments

Our favorite moment of the day has to be the “First Look” prank that Florence skillfully planned. Instead of her tapping on Einstein’s shoulder, she had Einstein’s best man, David, do it instead (while wearing a veil). David even leaned in for a smooch and it gave us all a good laugh before the ceremony.

The Photography & Videography

Darin and Tichakorn worked so seamlessly together to capture our big day exactly how we dreamt it – candid, joyous and lively. Darin is so professional and detail-oriented that she even went the extra mile and met with us the day prior to do a brief rehearsal to ensure that our day can be captured perfectly.

The Dinner

One of the many facets we adored about Thailand is the “extra-spice” they bring to traditional Asian culinary experience. Our six-course dinner menu was wholly dedicated to the Thai style cuisine, we concluded the dinner course with a mangosteen sorbet served in its own shell that our chef pre-ordered and froze a few months ahead while it was still in season.

Our perfect wedding experience would not have been complete without the music performed by a live band. We attended many weddings in the past, having a live band simply can’t be beaten. The soulful sounds added to the beachfront vibe of our reception dinner. Along with our pre-selected song list, the quarter was hands-down one of the best live bands we’ve encountered and were highly complimented by many of our guests.

Advice to Other Couples

If you’re planning a wedding overseas, hiring an experienced and professional local wedding planner is a must. From day one, The Wedding Bliss team made our wedding planning process so much easier. Their expert guidance throughout the whole journey definitely played an important role in our decision-making. We could not have possibly enjoyed our special event as much if it were not for the Lookmai, and her Wedding Bliss team for their great attention to minute details and tremendous help on the day of our wedding.
