Good morning,

The feather fest continues!

Did you see Part 1 of my feather obsession yesterday? There's a plethora of unique ways to incorporate feathers into your wedding ~ including a few crafty ideas but it's a tad more ‘BUY than DIY‘.

Whereas this post is dedicated to all you DIY brides searching for chic and unique feather decor/detail/accessory ideas and tutorials to try at home.

1. Such a simple idea ~ feathers as a pretty place setting detail wrapped in twine/leather/silk. The wrapping part is important so they don't blow away!

2. Elsie of A Beautiful Mess created these brightly coloured feather boutonnieres for her cool and quirky wedding. Find her full DIY tutorial here.

3. Another fabulously colourful and fun boutonniere DIY tutorial from the girls over at Bride and Chic. Love the scrabble tile detail! Full tutorial here.

4. I must admit I'm not a big fan of feathered fascinators but this darling black velet bow clip and feathered headband are gorgeous. Not traditionally ‘bridal' but I think either of these would look gorgeous at a dessert ranch wedding! And you could always use white feathers. Full tutorial here.

5. We've seen Mr & Mrs signs, ribbons and apples as chair back decor…how about feathers?! I love this idea for the bride and groom's chairs ~ it would be great for a love bird themed wedding don't you think?

6. Fabric feathers can be used in a variety of ways from boutonnieres to headpieces to favour packaging! Full DIY tutorial here.

7. How gorgeous does this ceremony room look adorned with feathers? Positively heavenly. Use real or paper feathers strung along the ceiling. See the tutorial below on how to make paper feathers.

8. Whose amazing idea was it to make feathers out of paper?! These hymn paper feathers would be perfect for a music themed wedding. But you could use any kind of paper or coloured card, book pages, newspaper and even, as artist Nicola Dane did below, use maps!

These map feathers are the best travel themed wedding idea I've seen in a while! They are made out of old ordnance survey maps.

9. After seeing this image I'm convinced that feathers are bunting's cooler cousin!

I love the simplicity of this concept. You can buy this illustrated paper feather decor string from Etsy or DIY by attaching real or paper feathers to a piece of string. I prefer the idea of using real feathers, for softness. Use white feathers or spotted guinea fowl feathers/natural brown and white striped feathers or…get busy with water colours using the tutorial below.

10. This is my absolute favourite DIY feather idea to date ~ water colour feathers! Turn plain white feathers into artwork. {In fact, when I first saw the image below I thought it was a painting!}

The clever folks at Design Sponge created water colour feather pens. I was blown away by how beautiful the feathers looked and thought they could be used in a couple's wedding colours as decor/details. But, as lovely bride Audrey suggested in the comments of my equally feathery post yesterday, a pretty, feathered pen to sign the marriage certificate would be a fabulous idea!

A bonus idea would be to use feathers as confetti ~ it'd make such a dreamy photo!

I hope you liked my DIY feather round up. Which idea is your favourite?
